CAR BATTERY REPAIR AND INSPECTION in Mississauga serving Brampton
Inspection and Repair of Your Vehicle's Battery
In order to ensure that your vehicle's battery doesn't have any problems, you should inspect it regularly. When you handle your battery, be sure to protect your eyes and body by wearing goggles, gloves and full protective clothing. Taking special care in your battery inspection will enable you to have any problems fixed before they get out of hand.
To help care for and maintain your batteries these tools are recommended:
- · Vaseline
- · Distilled water
- · Voltmeter
- · Post cleaner
- · Baking soda
- · Wrench
- · Hydrometer
- · Goggles
- · Gloves
The first step in battery inspection is to look over its outside appearance thoroughly, making sure the container isn't cracked and that the top, connections and battery posts are all clean. Not only should your battery be completely free of dirt, corrosion and fluids, if you do see any fluid at all this could be an indication that electrolyte is leaking or spilling. In this case, make sure your battery is serviced or replaced.
The next step is to examine your battery's cables and connections. Check for any parts or cables that look damaged or are loose, and make sure the connected wires are tight enough to make contact with the terminals. If any battery cables are not intact or appear damaged, replace them. Broken or frayed cables can be a hazard to the safe operation of your vehicle.
Do not over-tighten the wire connections when tightening them, since posts can break or melt down if they are too tight. If you have any questions about your vehicle's battery inspection and repair, contact us.
