A new Jeep Wrangler pickup truck is exciting news for Jeep fans and truck drivers alike, and the announcement of a Wrangler truck coming in late 2017 is no exception. With the increased popularity of many midsize-compact trucks rising with many new makes and redesigns on the market now, the Jeep truck is definitely likely to create a stir in the growing market. The new Jeep Wrangler pickup will be built in conjunction with the next-gen Wrangler, and will be the first production Jeep pickup produced within the Wrangler umbrella.
Jeep Wrangler Truck Production Staying at Toledo Plant
It is anticipated that production of the Jeep Cherokee will be moved to another plant, so that the Jeep Wrangler-based pickup truck can be built at the Toledo plant. Jeep truck fans have been waiting on the edge of their seats for a long time for this announcement, especially after pickup truck concepts like the J-12 and the Gladiator. The fact that a pickup version of the next-gen Wrangler will now be offered has many Mississauga consumers happily starting to save and plan for its purchase.
Jeep Wrangler Pickup Has Historical Place in Jeep Lineup
According to The Detroit News, Mike Manley, Jeep’s global chief, stated that late 2017 is the targeted date for the arrival of the Wrangler pickup truck. He said, “Sergio and I work very, very closely on the Jeep product portfolio, and both of us have been a fan of a potential Wrangler pickup. For me, there is a historical place in our lineup for it.”
Truth be told, there is quite a history to the Jeep pickup truck that has kept the appetites of fans whetted over the decades. The Jeep Mighty FC concept vehicle definitely tipped normal concepts of balance and scale with its large front end jutting out in ways that disrupted the usual tenets of vehicle design. But the designer had increased space in mind as well as versatility in placing the passengers and driver in front and above the powertrain instead of behind it. The interior contained stock Wrangler items and delivered a comfort that surprised some.
The Jeep J-12 concept also had a retro style and still remain in the minds of many Jeep fans. Styled after grandpa’s fishing truck, the J-12 brought back special memories for people who viewed it. Then there was the Jeep Wrangler JT concept in 2009, which was based on the Wrangler Unlimited and tempted Jeep pickup fans all over again.
