2019 Jeep Wrangler Won SUV of the Year Award | Mississauga, Brampton

Now accepting the award for Motortrend’s SUV of the Year is the 2019 Jeep Wrangler! And the crowd goes wild! Jeep has done it again, Brampton and Oakville, with this year’s sleek upgrade from the JK to the JL. Jeep has successfully maneuvered that rocky terrain between changing what needs to be changed and keeping the iconic features that make a Wrangler a Wrangler.
People often fear change, especially when it happens too quickly for anyone’s comfort. The engineers at Jeep kept that in mind with its 2019 redesign and blended the best of the old with the best of the new. The Wrangler retains its iconic look, so you won’t have a problem recognizing it on the road. Jeep has improved upon its world-class engineering and has fine-tuned this machine into something worthy of its accolades. Not only has it successfully blended the old with the new, it also continues in its inimitable fashion of blending a smooth commuter vehicle with an off-road beast. That’s got to be some kind of magic, don’t you think?
Remember when a four-door vehicle screamed “family” and was anything but cool? In the 2019 Wrangler, you can pick up your kids from school and they can hop into your stylin’ Unlimited four-door model, and not a soul would dare challenge you about your coolness factor. Hand your kids their sunglasses and you can all drive off with a self-satisfied smile on your faces. Of course, Jeep can’t do much about Little Bobby’s ratty gym bag getting dirt on Little Sally’s shoes, but if you drive off quickly enough, before the fighting ensues, you’ve still kept up your street cred. For the choose-to-be-childless set, Jeep’s got you covered, too, with its V6 two-door manual transmission.
If fabulous fuel efficiency is your thing (and who doesn’t like to save fuel and money?), you’ll be happy to note that Jeep has given you the option of a mild-hybrid turbo-four that beats EPA-rated fuel economy by almost 40 per cent! You can save the money you would have spent on fuel, and put it towards buying all kinds of new after-market accessories for your Wrangler. Woohoo!
Wrangler has cleaned up its look a little bit. You will find the Jeep badge has been relocated to the front fenders. Round headlights are framed by the traditional seven-bar grille. You’d be hard-pressed to find further changes in the face-design and that’s okay. You shouldn’t mess with an icon.
The standard canvas top and plastic side windows are now quicker and easier to take-down and reinstall. Also available are black or body-colored hard tops, while the soft-top comes in tan or black. New for 2019, in the fun exterior department, is a zippy new color called Bikini. Returning colors are: Hella Yella, Bright White, Billet Silver, Granite Crystal, Black, Firecracker Red, Sting Gray, Punk’n Mettalic and Ocean Blue Metallic
Because blending is one of the things Jeep does so well, the Sky One-Touch soft-top combines both ingenuity and safety with its power retractable option. The breezy open highway or a comfy shelter from the elements? You decide. Well, you and your cousin Marcus who doesn’t like to risk losing his new toupee. Don’t even think about it. The repercussions over family dinner would go on for eons.
If you were to choose a word that describes the interior of the Wrangler, it would have to be “sensible.” That said, once again Jeep has blended sensibility with luxury, which comes out to sensibly luxurious—at least in the spots you’d want something a little more special. The 2019 JL also boasts an intuitive Uconnect Infotainment system with the choice of a 7.0 or 8.4-inch touchscreen, as well as Apple Carplay and Android Auto support.
The new JL may have style, but it also has substance. Some pleasant surprises include the new turbocharged engine. Its low-end, 295 lb-ft torque gives you a bit more power for low-speed off-roading. With 270 HP, you’re likely going to enjoy the road-less-travelled a whole lot more. The 2019 Wrangler models offer different four-wheel drive systems based on what you want, so there’s something for everyone.
The powerful driveline of the Sahara and Sport models still offer the Command-Trac NV241 part-time, two-speed transfer case, featuring a 2.72:1 low-range gear ratio and next-generation front and rear Dana axles. Also, an optional Trac-Lok limited-slip rear differential grips the surface and provides extra torque in sand, snow, mud or other low-traction scenarios.
The Sahara boasts a Selec-Trac two-speed transfer case, with a full-time four-wheel drive and a 2.72:1 low-range gear ratio. The transfer case is intuitive, so you can sit back, while it takes care of the front and rear wheels.
The Rubicon model sports heavy-duty, next-generation front and rear Dana axles and features enhanced off-road rock rails, as well as the Rock-Trac NV241 two-speed transfer case with a 4.0:1 low-range gear ratio. Also included are electric front and rear-locking differentials, a disconnecting front sway bar and 33-inch BF Goodrich KM All-Terrain tires. Look out, muddy hills and valleys!
Jeep also cares about your safety. Its frame is reinforced with high-strength steel and also offers seat-mounted front side airbags. Blind-spot monitoring, rear-cross traffic alert and LED headlights are all on offer. Also keeping you and your family safe is the high-tech forward collision warning, helping to get you safely to Grandma’s house for that prime rib dinner.
We at Team Chrysler are pretty sure you’ll be as pleased with this new Wrangler as we are. Motortrend doesn’t award it’s SUV of the year to just anything, after all. Why don’t you come on down and have a look at our inventory? We promise you won’t be disappointed.
