ine thousand years ago, the Ojibwe of the Algonquin group inhabited Sudbury. Today, Northern Ontario's biggest city, once best known as the home of The Big Nickel, has 161,531 residents who live in eight urban areas as well as in rural communities beyond city limits. There are some 330 lakes in the area, and while winters are long and cold, summers are hot and sometimes quite humid. Striking rock formations and rugged forests define the lunar landscape, and Sudbury has become an increasingly popular location for film and television production. The Inco Superstack chimney is the second tallest structure in Canada after the CN Tower.
